Eco-friendly Pet Cremation
Aquacremation is the
ultimate pet aftercare
Innovative, safe and gentle.
Kind words
Inspired by nature
for all pet owners
When it comes to the way you choose to say farewell to your pet, our special gift to you, and to our planet, is aquacremation. This innovative process is relatively new to Australia but has been used around the globe for decades. It's natural, gentle and eco-friendly, and just like with a traditional cremation process, you'll receive your pet’s ashes to keep or to scatter at their favourite spot.
Aquacremation is the right choice for you and your pet if you’re seeking a gentle and more dignified process than traditional flame-based pet cremation. If you're unsure in any way about how pet water cremation works, we’d love to talk to you more about this wonderful process.
Just like nature
As a pet owner, you want what's best for your pet, both in life and during their aftercare. Aquacremation uses a combination of gentle water flow, temperature and alkalinity to accelerate the natural course of tissue breakdown and decomposition. A combination of warm water and alkali will gently rush over your pet’s body as it naturally returns to a molecular level. The process is completed within 20 hours, ensuring your pet's ashes are returned to you as quickly as possible.
Beautiful and pure
Your pet’s remains are treated with the utmost respect and dignity during the aquacremation process. Rest assured that there is no burning. The only similarity to a traditional cremation is that you’ll receive your pet's ashes at the end. The ashes following an aquacremation process are finer, whiter and softer. They’re pure, just like your pet, and are returned to you in one of our beautiful memorials or urns.
Giving back to our earth
Aquacremation creates zero greenhouse gases and is both energy and water efficient. What might surprise you is that the water by-product is a valuable nutrient-rich product that is used as a fertiliser additive in composting and bio-gas production. Not only are you choosing an eco-friendly pet water cremation process, but all our packages include a unique tree planting tribute, which means you and your pet are giving back to our earth and contributing to a more sustainable future.
Let us answer
your questions

No. Although that is a lovely idea, aquacremation is a natural process and only 100% organic items can be decomposed. As an alternative, you could consider including your pet’s special food treats or some flowers.
We’re glad you asked. Alkaline hydrolysis is simply the scientific name for what we refer to as aquacremation. This water-based cremation process uses a catalyst called alkali, which is the chemical opposite of an acid and is made from sodium and potassium salts.
Your pet's remains are placed into a sterile, stainless-steel vessel that is then filled with a water solution made up of 95% water and 5% alkali. The vessel is heated, and the combination of heat and water work together to gently decompose your pet's body as it would naturally, only faster.
Once the process is complete, the water solution is drained from the vessel and our team carefully place the skeletal remains through a drying process to allow us to powder them into soft, white ash. In fact, aquacremation results in around 20% more ash than traditional flame cremation.
Your pet's ashes are lovingly placed in your personal memorial or urn and returned to you as quickly as possible so you can honour their life in a way that matters most to you.
No. Your pet's ashes are not harmful to the environment. For families wanting to use the cremated remains from aquacremation or traditional pet cremation as part of potting soil, allowing their loved ones to live on through a plant, ash is certainly not toxic if the soil is properly prepared. Significantly diluting the calcium phosphate with potting soil and a pH balancer to match your region and the specific plant’s needs makes cremated remains beneficial to the plant instead of potentially toxic.
